Golden Valley Tree Park in Balingup, Western Australia, is a captivating natural gem that offers a unique experience for nature enthusiasts and visitors from around the world. Located within driving distance from Perth, it's a must-visit destination for anyone exploring this region.
One of the standout features of Golden Valley Tree Park is its International Tree Section, which is a testament to the park's commitment to biodiversity and conservation. This section showcases an impressive collection of trees from various parts of the world, providing a global botanical journey within this serene Australian setting.
Visitors can embark on an educational adventure as they wander through this section, discovering trees and plant species from diverse climates and regions. Each tree is thoughtfully labeled, making it an excellent opportunity for both adults and children to learn about the rich tapestry of flora that our planet has to offer.
Aside from its educational value, Golden Valley Tree Park offers a tranquil environment perfect for picnics, leisurely walks, and bird watching. The park's lush greenery and well-maintained paths create an ideal setting for a peaceful day amidst nature.
Absolute must during autumn season. Colours are insane. So beautiful. There are several short and easy walking trails. Great for kids.
Lovely place to see collection of trees planted from different parts of the world here. They have grown big and thriving. It’s a good short walk, although be aware there’s (heaps heaps) of ants on the ground.
An amazing couple of hours walking around some beautiful scenery for free! Donated (an options) anyway.
Golden Valley Tree Park is the largest arboretum in Western Australia. I visited this place on 30 August 2022 because of some excellent reviews. Believe me it doesn't disappoint. Forget about being a nature lover or an avid botanist, this park is for all and in autumn it is just magical. One of those places where you are amidst nature and cellular 4G connection still working. I'm going to visit this place again in Spring and see what more magic unfolds.
What a delightful place! The paths are in keeping with the environment and the atmosphere. It feels like you're just wandering through the bush. Just the right amount of facilities so as not to detract from the natural setting.
Initial skeptics turn into a rather delightful wonderings. Just about a right time of season’s end in this unexpected visits - a place that plays out it’s own aesthetic sense of naturalistic imaginary invites. Easy access to all even for a short day trip for all ages, in the right seasons.
I love this park. So many beautiful and unusual trees. The oak grove is my favourite.
Update for 2020... The BBQ has been changed and it is excellent. There is a new gazebo over the BBQ (gas push start, no coins needed) and a large preparation bench behind it and a sign on the large gazebo says you can book the area for functions. I love the idea of a wedding here under the massive Oak trees and Catalpa!
The information signs are excellent. The map shows and lists individual trees which is so helpful as not all trees are signed in the park (many are).
There are two main collections; the native collection and the world collection. The selection of mature trees is incredible and new trees are added too.
I'd recommend good walking shoes, hat and a backpack with water and camera if you want to truly explore. You'll see mature trees here not commonly seen (and probably leave with a wish list for your own garden).
We bring our young kids too and they love it. On our recent trip other children had placed painted rocks, peacock feathers and other treasures around and they had a blast looking to see what treasures they could find and photograph.
Every time we visit the pamphlets are refilled and toilets and tables are clean and stocked. Drop toilets mightn't be everyone's cup of tea but these are well maintained. Huge thank you to the Volunteers who make this arboretum such a pleasure to visit.
